Small and mid-sized drug developers gain free access to AI agents, computing power and biomedical evidence
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — AI has opened a new opportunity for drug research, but many small and mid-sized biotech and pharmaceutical companies cannot afford the specialized talent and computing power needed to use it. Apodex today announced that it will offer its AI drug research services to these companies free of charge, drawing on its own research team, large-scale computing power and an extensive biomedical knowledge network.

“AI should be for humanity, and drug research is where AI can make a meaningful difference to human health,” said Tianqiao Chen, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Apodex. “We want to help everyone take part in this work and accelerate the development and evaluation of treatments that patients are waiting for.”
The flagship service is the Clinical Trial Forecasting Lab, which estimates the probability that an ongoing trial will meet its primary endpoint and explains the evidence behind it. Every forecast is locked before results are made public, then checked against the actual outcome. More than 600 forecasts on ongoing trials are already live. Other services include drug repurposing and reformulation, drug-drug interaction analysis and drug safety assessment.
“Our system goes well beyond the large language model itself,” said Dr. Heng Ji, Head of the Drug Research Computing Center at Apodex. “It is a comprehensive research infrastructure for evaluating existing drugs and identifying new research opportunities, integrating a large-scale biomedical knowledge and evidence network, multi-hop mechanistic search, specialized computational tools, and agentic workflows. It actively gathers evidence, builds drug–target–pathway–disease mechanistic paths, and weighs conflicting evidence, safety, and uncertainty to support drug repurposing, reformulation, and clinical trial forecasting. The result is testable hypotheses and assessments backed by traceable evidence chains, with measurable gains over the same base models operating without our research environment.”
Apodex’s research services are currently available free of charge at https://drug.apodexlab.ai/. Terms will be agreed upon before any work begins.
Apodex forecasts and analyses are research outputs based on public information and are not medical or investment advice.
