IDE Technologies, a leading global provider of desalination and water treatment solutions, today announced its multi-year framework agreement with WEB Bonaire to support the development and expansion of Bonaire’s water infrastructure. The organizations came together to celebrate this milestone partnership on October 12 at the WEB Water Plant Hato, joined by the project team and members of the Board of Directors.
The multi-year framework is the next step in the existing relationship between IDE and WEB Bonaire, evolving from individual desalination projects to a broader, long-term partnership covering future water infrastructure development, engineering, and implementation. It is designed to help WEB Bonaire achieve its 2030 goals, including increased desalination capacity, expanded post-treatment capacity, and new supporting infrastructure.
“Expanding our partnership with WEB Bonaire means our teams will work alongside each other with a common goal to grow the island’s desalination and water treatment infrastructure,” said Amit Meninger, VP, Microelectronics, IDE Technologies. “As Bonaire continues to grow and develop, we must ensure its water treatment and technology solutions are evolving with it to support the continued availability of safe, high-quality water for the community of Bonaire.”
The framework agreement establishes a basis for continued cooperation between IDE and WEB Bonaire for an initial period of up to five years, with projects anticipated under WEB Bonaire’s long-term planning:
- New desalination units to expand the existing desalination facility, targeting an increased daily output and skid capacity.
- New intake and outfall infrastructure with a capacity of 55,000 m3/d.
- Two new post-treatment units, each with 6,000 cubic meters per day capacity to provide 12,000 cubic meters per day of additional post-treatment capacity.
- Other supporting infrastructure projects, such as pipelines, to further accommodate the island’s current and future growth.
The delivery of individual projects will take place in accordance with WEB Bonaire’s long-term planning, internal approval processes, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Water security is fundamental to Bonaire’s future. This framework agreement provides a basis for continued cooperation with IDE as WEB Bonaire strengthens its water infrastructure, supports the island’s growth, and helps ensures the reliable supply of high-quality drinking water.
