California leads with 19 honorees, while New York City and Chicago stand out among cities
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The next great meal could be across the country, or just around the corner. Today, OpenTable, a global leader in restaurant tech, unveils its Top 100 Restaurants in America for 20261, celebrating the restaurants diners sought out and loved this year.
Spanning 21 states and Washington, D.C., the list offers inspiration for discovering a new favorite or returning to a restaurant that gets it right. Generated from over 11 million reviews from verified OpenTable diners and dining metrics, this year’s honorees reflect the breadth of American dining, from beloved neighborhood staples to MICHELIN-starred destinations worth planning a trip around.
“Diners have no shortage of places they can turn to for dining inspiration, but none quite like our Top 100, which casts a wide net across the country and reflects the restaurants Americans are truly loving,” said Amy Wei, Chief Operating Officer at OpenTable. “Our 2027 Dining Trends Report found 68% of Americans expect to visit restaurants the same or more often – and that many are finding new reasons to dine out – we hope this list inspires every occasion, from holiday celebrations to just because.”
Highlights from the 2026 list:
- Denver on the rise: Denver continues to grow its presence on this list, going from one restaurant to four over the past couple years, now featuring seven on the 2026 list, including Alma Fonda Fina, Alteño and The Wolf’s Tailor.
- New York and Chicago remain powerhouses, but the geography is shifting: New York City accounts for 14 honorees, including Brooklyn’s Red Hook Tavern and Sailor, alongside Don Angie and Una Pizza Napoletana. Chicago follows with 12, including Daisies, Kasama and Lula Cafe. Philadelphia had a breakout year, doubling its share year-over-year, while cities beyond dining destinations like Great Falls, Saddle River, Dennis Port and Santa Fe are making their culinary mark.
- The staying power of America’s most beloved restaurants is on full display: At least 18 restaurants, from Cafe Monarch in Scottsdale to The Pink Door in Seattle, have earned a spot on OpenTable’s Top 100 for four consecutive years.
- California claims the largest share: With 19 honorees, California leads the list, spanning destinations from Palm Springs to San Francisco. Highlights include Bar Cecil in Palm Springs, Callie Restaurant in San Diego and Providence in Los Angeles.
Released alongside OpenTable’s 2027 Dining Trends Report, the Top 100 complements research exploring how Americans are finding new reasons to dine out, from everyday celebrations to meals that turn an outing into a full night out. 1Top 100 Restaurants in America for 2026 Methodology
OpenTable’s Top 100 Restaurants in America for 2026 list is generated from over 11 million reviews from verified OpenTable diners and dining metrics from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026. OpenTable restaurants that are in good standing with a minimum threshold of diner reviews were considered and evaluated by a compilation of unique data points, including diner ratings, the percentage of five star reviews, the number of alerts set, the percentage of reservations made in advance, percentage of capacity and direct searches. Metrics were weighted to comprise an overall score, used to rank the list. The resulting list appears A-Z, not in ranked order.
