Build Platform Introduces Secure Static Site Builder as PHP2Shell Flaws Push Websites Offline Worldwide

On Oct. 21, PHP’s developers released emergency fixes for the flaws, known as “PHP2Shell.” Both are rated 9.2 out of 10 and let an attacker take over a web server with a single request and no login. According to Reuters, agencies in Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Japan took sites offline as a precaution. PHP is estimated to power more than 70% of websites, and many small businesses had to wait on their hosting company for a fix.

Founder Thayne Rigby, who has built and hosted WordPress sites for more than 25 years, said, “October exposed the limits of constant patching. When a flaw sits in PHP itself, every site running it is exposed at once.” Rigby further stated the builder was designed so the live website has nothing for that kind of attack to work with.

Business owners edit pages, forms, blog posts, and search settings in a visual editor, with AI to help write and design. One click publishes the site as ready-made pages delivered from Cloudflare’s global network. The live site has no PHP to exploit, no database to inject into, and no login page for bots to attack. Features that usually require third-party plugins are built in, and every publish keeps a one-click restore point.

Build Platform also handles the move from WordPress, starting with a free site review. Pages, images, and blog posts come across, and redirects protect search rankings. The old WordPress installation, with its plugins and PHP server, can then be retired.

Rigby noted that no website is unhackable, and domains, email, and accounts still need care. A static site, he said, removes the parts that cause most hacks: code that runs on every visit, the database, and the plugins.
