Jupiter Fire Rescue Department Begins Operations, Assumes Local Control

West Palm Beach Fort Pierce, FL, October 1, 2026 —

Jupiter, FL – The Town of Jupiter has officially launched its own dedicated fire and emergency response service. The newly established Jupiter Fire Rescue Department commenced operations on October 1st at midnight, assuming full responsibility for all fire suppression, emergency medical services, and other rescue operations within the town limits.

This significant development marks a transition away from the services previously provided by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. The establishment of a town-run department is described as a historic move, intended to grant Jupiter direct oversight and control over its essential emergency services.

The precise details regarding the operational structure, staffing, and budget of the new Jupiter Fire Rescue Department were not fully provided in the summary. However, the core function remains to serve the residents and businesses of Jupiter with immediate and localized emergency response capabilities. The decision to create a separate municipal department aims to foster greater community integration and potentially streamline response protocols tailored specifically to Jupiter’s needs.

The handover from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is complete as of the midnight deadline on October 1st. Moving forward, all emergency calls that previously would have been routed through the county service for Jupiter will now be handled directly by the Jupiter Fire Rescue Department. The town’s direct control is expected to facilitate quicker decision-making and resource allocation in critical situations. Further information regarding the department’s specific assets, response times, and strategic initiatives is anticipated as operations stabilize.
